COUCH REMOVAL FEES
The fee for couch removal / couch disposal is $90. For really heavy types of couch such as hideup bed, the fee is $100 due to the fact that this type of couch is much heavier. More weight means more disposal fees for our company.
STEPS
You give us a call or emails us with your couch information. Before we come to remove your couch we would like to know a little bit more information that will allow us to be more prepared when we come to remove your couch.
Your address and contact information of the person who will be at home on the day of the couch removing. How big is the couch. Three seater or 2 seater. Is it a hideup bed or a regular couch. How heavy is the couch? Is the couch wet? Are you in a house or in an apartment? Once we get this information we can book an appointment with you at an hour that is convenient to you. On the day of the couch pick up, you will get a phone call 15 min before arrival so you know that we are near by.
Please clear any obstacles you might have in your hallway or around where the couch is. This will allow us to service you faster. If it is heavier item that you cannot move yourself, we’ll do it for you. In most cases the couch is big enough that if there are paintings on the way, it might knock them off when it is being taken out in the hallway. Please remove any paintings you think are on the way.
MY COUCH IS TOO BIG
Don’t be alarmed. Disposal fees for big and small couch are the same. Usually larger couch does not add too much weight so we don’t increase our couch disposal fees. However, it is advisable to let us know in advance if your couch is really big so we are prepared. There are steps that can be taken when disposing a big couch. Removing the legs from the couch is helpful. Usually this is all it takes for a big couch to fit in the doorways and hallways.
MY COUCH IS TOO OLD
We do couch disposal for old and new couches. It doesn’t matter to us. Naturally we will try to donate a couch that is in a good shape. However, most charities fear bed bugs so they would not take it.
MY COUCH HAS BEDBUGS
Unfortunately, we do not offer couch pick up services for couches infested with bed bugs.
MY COUCH IS WET
When we do couch disposal, we have to take into account how heavy the couch is. In most cases the size of the couch does not contribute too much to the normal weight. However, water is very heavy. A couch left outside on a rain for as little as one hour can almost double the couch weight. Couch disposal fees at the transfer station are based on weight. Therefore, for a couch that is really wet, we may have to add another $10 or $20 to the couch pick up fee. One easy way to avoid this extra fee is to cover it with a tarp or place the couch in your garage.
I have more than one couch
Fees are based on the disposal fees we have to pay at the transfer station, fuel cost, labor costs and time. If you have more than one couch to get rid of, the cost for each additional couch decreases. Your first couch will cost you $90 and each additional one will cost you only $60. If you have more than that, then we can come up to a deal that makes both parties happy. If you have a loveseat in addition to your couch, you should expect a disposal fee of around $120.
Where to dump a couch in Vancouver/Burnaby/North Vancouver?
Everyone has to deal with an old couch or a sofa at some point. Most people would call a rubbish removal company operating out of Vancouver. However, some people might get the idea that they can just let someone else worry about it. Often we deal with building managers who left with couch in the garage or at the back of the building. In most cases whoever left the couch there, is made to pay a big condo fine. It is not uncommon that fine to reach $200. In this technological age, most buildings have surveillance cameras. On top of that there is always that neighbor that will see you when you are trying to drag your sofa in the hallway. In other cases, some people think that leaving a couch at their back street is ok. The city of Vancouver or Burnaby will not pick it up for you. The couch will stay there for few months and the following will happen. Once people see one couch on the street, they assume that is fine to leave other rubbish next to it. Within few days you will start seeing more junk accumulating and soon you will have to live with an ugly scene every time you walk out of your building. Homeless guys love to sleep on soft furniture left outside and they will use it. In another words, there are consequences to you trying to just throw your couch on the street. If you cannot dispose of your couch to one of the transfer stations in Vancouver, North Vancouver or Burnaby, just call a professional rubbish removal company.
