MY COUCH IS TOO BIG
Don’t be alarmed. Junk Removal fees are not influenced by the size of the sofa. Usually a larger item does not add too much weight so we don’t increase our disposal fees. However, it is advisable to let us know in advance if it is really big so we are prepared. There are steps that can be taken so it is hauled away faster. Removing the legs is helpful. Usually this is all it takes for a big sofa to fit in the doorways and hallways. By following these steps you will make our couch removal services faster.
Fees are based on the disposal rates we have to pay at the North Shore Transfer Station, fuel cost, labor costs and time. If you have more than one sofa to get rid of, the cost for each additional one decreases. Your first one will cost you $100 and the 2nd couch will be $50.
Where to dump a couch in Vancouver?
Everyone has to deal with that problem at some point in Vancouver. Most people would call a junk removal company operating in Vancouver. However, some people might get the idea that they can just let someone else worry about it. Often we deal with building managers who are calling us because someone left an old furniture in the garage or at the back of the building. In most cases whoever left it there, is made to pay a big condo fine. It is not uncommon that fine to reach over $200. In this technological age, most buildings have surveillance cameras. On top of that there is always that neighbours that will see you when you are trying to drag it in the hallway. In other cases, some people think that leaving garbage at their back street is acceptable. The city of Vancouver will not pick it up for you. The junk will stay there for few months and the following will happen. Once people see an old furniture on the street, they assume that is fine to leave other rubbish next to it. Within few days you will start seeing more items accumulating and soon you will have to live with an ugly scene every time you walk out of your building. Homeless guys love to sleep on soft furniture left outside and they will use it. In another words, there are consequences to you trying to just leave your junk on the street. If you cannot dispose of your couch to one of the transfer stations in Vancouver, North Vancouver or Burnaby, just call a professional junk removal company.
HOW TO SAVE ON FEES?
The most efficient way on saving money on our services is to have it ready for us at the curb. Also, if you have it inside your garage or anywhere with easy access, you can enjoy savings on the disposal rates. This allows us to send a truck with one guy and we save some money on the labour. On average, it takes about 1.5-2 hours to get rid of a single item depending on traffic and waiting period at the Vancouver landfill. Having your sofa inside the house where it will require two guys to carry it out, that will result in having to pay double the labour coast to our workers. In general, the difficulty comes from tight corners and stairs.
Recycling couches by using charities is a noble idea but most organization would refuse to collect old furniture. Their concern is that some of these old items might have bed bugs and this is understandable. Often clients ask us for junk removal deals based on the believe that we can donate or sell the couch. However, this is not the case. We have to pay fees in order to dump such items.
Couch removal for Vancouver
Our company does provide services for the Vancouver area. The only exception is if you live in the downtown core. Since parking can be an issue in Vancouver, we would ask you to provide us with as much information on what is the best place to park our truck as possible. This way we will grab your furniture and be on our way. The faster we get it, the sooner you can be on your way of doing whatever you need to do for the rest of your day. Saves you time and it saves us some money on the labour cost. Most of the time we are very proud to be on time for our pickup appointments. The only time we could be late 10-15 min is when we run into the usual traffic. However, this does not happen often.
