There are actually 3 different types of operators in Vancouver,BC. The 3rd type is the one you should use only under rare circumstances. Those are the guys with their personal pickup trucks trying to make some cash on the weekend. The can be useful if you have a small load outside your property and also you don’t mind spending your sunny Saturday waiting for them to show up. It is unfair for me to speak this way of all of those guys and I am sure there are some who are there on time and do a good job for the size of trucks they have.However, I am hearing mostly horror stories from my clients if they have done business with some of those guys. I would say 80% are pretty good and you will not have a problem with them. If they can’t be nice to you on the phone, they won’t be nice to you when they come to pick up your junk. Even if they are good at their job, why would you give business to a company that does not care to hire the right person to represent them on the phone. This is something I’ve never understood. These companies setup a good operation and they put an idiot to be their face and voice.

If you don’t mind spending money, hire the 1800 JUNK guys. You will not regret it. They will be there on time and will do a good job. They will also be able to deal with sensitive jobs. For example I get calls from Real Estate agents asking me to do a job for their clients who have a serious hording problem. I don’t mind doing those jobs but in some cases the hording mental issue is quite bad and there is drama for almost every single item that needs to be taken to the dump. This is when I suggest they hire the big guys since they have a manager that can come by and deal with the environment better.
Smaller companies are for clients who want to save some money and get a quality service. These guys will be able to handle almost any amount of waste and will do it in a professional manner if you have called the right junk disposal company.
